I Love My Pet Because...

"I love my pet because oh wait he is not my pet . His my baby , my bestfriend . His the only one who listens to all my sad stories . And when Im down I dont know if he knows or what he comes to me wagging his tail and licks all over my face . He is the reason I run back home after school . He 's there for me all the time . I love him a little too much . He is a very big blessing in my life :)"

With Chinese New Year just around the corner, it would be so nice if humans and dogs could enjoy the festivities together. You can! Teach your canine buddy to chill out with you, where he can be near the action, but not always in it.
Kang Nee, a certified professional dog trainer with a PhD in Zoology, works with us and the dogs in our shelter. Under her Canine Education programme, she works with our volunteers and helps us train our dogs so they can better adapt to their environment.

Adopted on Christmas eve, Belle is the more fortunate one out of our four lovely Shih Tzus who were abandoned by their irresponsible owners. She's found a great home, but her friends are still waiting for their second chance at life. Happy 2014! As you enter the new year with family and friends by your side, spare a thought for the less fortunate shelter animals who don't have a family to call their own. Our Junior Inspectors (JIs) answered a distress call last Wednesday and arrived at Holland Close to this sight. The hapless community cat most likely got itself into this tricky predicament, and was stuck until our JIs freed it. The cat had a slight injury at its mouth, and our JIs brought it back to our shelter for treatment and observation.
We treated the cat's mouth injury, checked that it was sterilised, and released it back to its community last Friday.
