[REPATRIATION] THEY'VE COME A LONG WAY. Monday, 16 April 2018, the day six survivors of the illicit wildlife trade finally laid their footprints on their home ground. Residing at the ACRES Wildlife Rescue Centre collectively for over 10 years, with battle scars and wounds that needed attention, seeing them in their natural habitat and letting them go sure was hard. Boltz, a giant Asian pond turtle and star of the Wildlife Sanctuary for almost 7 years, known for his lightning bolt scar, seem...

DOLPHIN FREED!
10th Apr 2018, by Animal Concerns Research & Education Society (ACRES)

DOLPHIN FREED! Many of you saw the video of a dolphin who was apparently caught by a fishing line at Bedok jetty. The wild dolphin seemed to have a foreign object entangled on the tail fin, which was weighing down the animal, preventing him or her from swimming and breathing properly. The ACRES Wildlife Rescue Team jumped into action and we are delighted to share with everyone that the dolphin has been freed 🎉 On Sunday, we sighted the dolphin again, West of Bedok jetty along East Coast Pa...

PIG-NOSED TURTLES NOSING AROUND ENRICHMENT Last Saturday, we had two families who visited our wildlife rescue centre to prepare enrichment for our turtles. It was extremely heartening to see the younger members of the families chipping in in wrapping the mangoes, bananas and fish for all our pig-nosed turtles. Thank you to Agatha’s and Priya’s families for donating the food items and taking the time on a weekend to enrich the lives of our animals. Check out the photos of our guests and t...

FROM STRANGERS TO ROOMMATES Cupcake, a flap-shelled turtle, and Homer, a yellow-spotted river turtle, are both non-native to Singapore. Smuggled from abroad, they each settled in illegal pets living in separate water tanks they once called home. Cupcake and Homer are now roommates at the ACRES Wildlife Rescue Centre.
