A Big Shout Out To Smk Green Road For Giving Wwf-M.. 2nd Dec 2019, by WWF Malaysia
Malaysia the space – to paint a mural that carries conservation messages focusing on civets.
Civets, or "Musang", play an important role in keeping forests alive by dispersing seeds. Sadly, in Sarawak, they are diminishing as people hunt them illegally for food and as pets. But you and I can help civets to thrive.
Stop the demand by not purchasing civet parts and products, and use the power of your network to inspire others to act.
Thank you to students and teachers who gave us a hand in th...

WWF-Malaysia’s Forest Restoration Team have been hard at work at Bukit Piton for over 10 years, replanting trees at what was once a degraded area in order to ensure that the orangutans there won’t die out – a fate that would have been inevitable had they been left alone.
Today, with 2,400 hectares restored, the future is looking bright for the orangutans at Bukit Piton.
This video celebrates the 10 years of work that the team has done on the ground. It also represents what humans can ach...

Planting trees have not been without their challenges but we’ve persevered through them.

This Is Onsoi, Which Means Good In The Murut Langu.. 27th Nov 2019, by WWF Malaysia
This is Onsoi, which means “good” in the Murut language. Onsoi is a juvenile male orangutan spotted at Bukit Piton earlier this month.
To see orangutans thriving in what was previously degraded land is a sight to behold. But for the team at WWF-Malaysia, this occurrence is made even more special as Onsoi is resting on a replanted tree, a good sign that the restoration work to improve orangutan habitat at Bukit Piton has achieved its goal.
2 more days! Stay tuned this Friday as we unveil Bu...

To The Untrained Eye, This Might Look Like A Healt.. 26th Nov 2019, by WWF Malaysia
To the untrained eye, this might look like a healthy forest. But in reality, this is a degraded forest. 10 years ago, as a degraded forest, Bukit Piton was filled with shrubs and undergrowth and was void of trees. It was not a forest that could adequately sustain wildlife, much less a population of orangutans.
Together with the Sabah Forestry Department, WWF-Malaysia spearheaded the project to restore 2,400 hectares of degraded land in Bukit Piton as a bid to save the orangutans there. A monume...

WWF-Malaysia is saddened by the unfortunate loss of Sabah’s last surviving rhino, Iman, who died on Sunday after a long battle with cancer.
Iman’s death signifies the complete loss of the Sumatran rhino in Sabah. The hope of ever seeing this species in the wild is now forever gone.
While we can do little prevent the loss of the Sumatran rhinos on our lands, we can still do so much for our other remaining species, all of whom are in danger of facing similar fates if we do not address the th...

This Is Bukit Piton. 25th Nov 2019, by WWF Malaysia
This is Bukit Piton, a pocket of jungle that lies not far from the town of Lahad Datu in Sabah. Spanning approximately 12, 000 hectares, Bukit Piton is a Class I Protection Forest Reserve. It is isolated by palm oil plantations to the north and east and the Segama River to the south. Forest fires and unsustainable logging in the past have left parts of the area treeless and wildlife habitat in poor health.
Bukit Piton is also home to some 300 Bornean orangutans, all of whom would eventually die...
