Little Joe Goes Home
24th Aug 2010, by Zeus Communications

Volunteers discharged Little Joe from the vet and returned him to the factory on Sunday. He was very quiet on the way there and kept looking out of the windows. When volunteers turned into the lane he lived on, Little Joe immediately jumped up and was visibly excited - he knew he was home! On the way homeThe moment Little Joe got out of the car, he raced up and down the road as if he was doing an invisible obstacle course - he was lucky that it was Sunday and there were no other cars on the road...

A Tribute To Max
20th Aug 2010, by Zeus Communications

Max, a Bull Mastiff, passed away peacefully this morning at 9am, in the comfort of his home and in the loving arms of his owner, Ms CL. She had adopted him some years back and had given him the best of everything - from numerous car rides, to swims on the beach, to his very own swimming pool. Max had tick fever slightly more than a month ago and despite two blood transfusions over the past week, he got weaker by the day and finally passed on this morning. To all who knew Max, he was a g...

Little Joe has been staying at the Vets for the past 15 days. This is the longest we have ever warded a rescued stray. His bill too, has come up to a rather substantial amount. We thank everyone who has contributed to his bill, visited him and cooked nutritious food for him –Little Joe says Thank You!Little Joe and his doleful eyesWe have tried our best to help find him a home but sadly, there has been no takers, so Friday our volunteers will discharge Little Joe from the Vet and he will ...

End Abuse And Ill Treatment Of Dogs In Puppy Mills
15th Aug 2010, by Zeus Communications

Dear Friends and Fellow Animal Lovers,The puppy mill industry in Singapore is currently poorly regulated. A puppy mill is a factory that churns out puppies for commercial profit. In Singapore, due to inadequate puppy mill regulations and the lack of clear and enforceable best practices and guidelines in the industry, irresponsible puppy mills are able to mass produce puppies solely for profit, with little or no regard for the welfare of the breeding dogs. Most of these dogs are kept in appalling...

Updates On Sharpei And Little Joe
10th Aug 2010, by Zeus Communications

Updates on SharpeiVolunteers had taken the little Bear to visit her big brother, Sharpei, at his foster home a week after the both of them went to different foster homes. They were absolutely ecstatic to see each other and the little Bear licked Sharpei continuously. The little one followed him all around the house and they played and rolled happily in the garden, just like the good old days. It was a bittersweet moment – seeing how happy they were together and yet knowing that it was unlikely...

Twist Of Fate
6th Aug 2010, by Zeus Communications

On Monday evening, on one of our regular feeding rounds, we came across an emaciated dog. We had seen him a few times previously, and have always made an effort to feed him more, but this time he had a deep wound on his neck. He lived outside a factory and the night guard there cared for him. He told us that one night when he came to work, he had seen the wound but was not aware how the deep wound came about. He had been trying to medicate it with some “Chinese powder” but to no avail. We imm...

How Tough Can Life Get?
29th Jul 2010, by Zeus Communications

Pardon us for this long story but we assure you, it is worth the read.Sharpei was spotted on the streets in an industrial estate in December 2009. He could have been abandoned as he was extremely lost and confused being on the streets. He was very wary of dogs and humans and avoided everyone. He was a loner. If he was eating and another dog approached, he would leave his food and walk off, even if that meant that he forego his only decent meal of the week. Waiting at the bus stopLife as an aband...

Tiger's Home Coming
26th Jul 2010, by Zeus Communications

Remember Tiger, an injured dog volunteers rescued two weeks ago? Tiger has since recovered from his surgery and has headed back to his home at the factory. Tiger spent a week at the vet. During his stay, he howled and barked as he did not like being caged up. Dr Ang understood and let him run freely inside the clinic whenever there were no other doggie customers around. After assessing Tiger, Dr Ang noticed that apart from his bleeding scrotum and broken hip bone, he also had a laceration on his...

Animals At Risk
12th Jul 2010, by Zeus Communications

PLEASE DO NOT SCROLL DOWN IF YOU HAVE A WEAK STOMACH. In the past two weeks, we have seen two horrific accidents involving street dogs. We didn’t witness the accidents, but the sight of Dawn with part of her leg sliced off and Tiger, with his horrific injuries, have made us think how careless humans put animals at risk. As if life isn’t tough enough for them, living on the streets with no food nor shelter, these poor street dogs have had to endure weeks of pain. What if workers had not infor...

Lady Dawn - A New Beginning
8th Jul 2010, by Zeus Communications

Volunteers went to Mt Pleasant to fetch Dawn and take her home. She did not seem as fierce as when she was first admitted to the clinic. Vet Technicians told us that she was still rather unpredictable but she would not growl or try to attack as long as they did not try to touch her. Somehow they managed to leash her and coax her into the carrier. Throughout the journey back to her factory, she was banging on the gate of her carrier, trying to get out but when we told her she would be home s...

Behind the scenes of a Puppy MillWith the recent news about breeding dogs in the press and in the animal welfare circle, once again it brings us to the issue of proper breeding standards of dogs in Singapore. Most people would have thought that with Singapore being the best in almost everything, our countrymen would at least have a heart. Do we really? If you have been following certain animal welfare blogs, Facebook, the local papers, etc...  you would have read and seen the sorry state of ...

Teresa Hsu - Singapore's Mother Teresa
22nd Jun 2010, by Zeus Communications

She has been a social worker in China an...

Feeding Strays
16th Jun 2010, by Zeus Communications

Often when people find out someone feeds strays, a few common thoughts cross their minds; no life, eccentric, littering by throwing plastic bags of food in public places, etc Whatever the comments may be, feeding strays is something I have chosen to do for the past many years. My objective, however, is very clear; to sterilize the female dogs so they don’t give birth to puppies who have to grow up on the streets with no food nor shelter and run the risk of being hit be heavy vehicles in c...

Animal Communication Workshops
7th Jun 2010, by Zeus Communications

With these workshops, we hope you will experience the amazing interaction between yourself and your companion animal. So open your ...
