About Pedigree Dogs And What Wrongful Breeding Does 29th Feb 2012, by AnimalCare
Su Ann Quah shared these:

If you are an owner of a pedigree, you are strongly encouraged to view these two videos.
If you are intending to purchase a pedigree, please watch it, too.
If you don’t mind a mixed breed or a local dog, please adopt one from the shelter or the many adoption drives for rescued dogs.
Coincidentally, I just heard a most disturbing story. Apparently, there is an animal lover who has been shelteri...

Daisy Duck Attacking Dewey The Librarian! 29th Feb 2012, by AnimalCare
Just weeks ago, Daisy, Dewey and Thor were three of four siblings left outside a vet’s clinic. Someone spotted them and asked for help. We blogged and our reader responded the next day (by then one of the siblings had died) and took them over. Even then, Daisy was in really, really bad shape and we all prayed VERY hard she would survive.
It had not been an easy task, literally bringing them back from the brink of death, but our reader (who requested anonymity) did a job only angels do R...

More On Being A “rescuer” 29th Feb 2012, by AnimalCare
Here is another sharing from one of our readers, as a response to my post: http://myanimalcare.org/2012/02/29/the-vari ous-types-of-rescuers/
I have received emails several times from one of the person who appealed for help in rescuing strays around CBJ. When i mentioned I am an individual just like him and i can only offer to help to catch but not to foster or adopt as I too have a few at home relying on me financially as as well other aspects). All I get was a rude reply. There’s anothe...

Help Needed To Catch And Rehome Two Stray Dogs (Hanie Razaif’s) 29th Feb 2012, by AnimalCare
Hanie Razaif wrote to me on 23rd Feb, with a huge problem – some stray dogs on her street were (still are) attacking her cats, resulting in the death of a few of her cats. These dogs were also attacking the children and joggers. Hanie does not want to call the council, knowing the fate of the dogs, but she is at her wit’s end, trying to find solution.
If you have any idea to help, please contact Hanie at kristalchampagne@gmail.com.
Here is her dilemma:
Dear Dr Chan,
Hope this ema...

The Various Types Of “rescuers” 29th Feb 2012, by AnimalCare
Here is a sharing from one of our readers who would rather remain anonymous. On her own, she donates a sum of money to her neighbourhood vet, to be used, at the vet’s discretion, for genuinely needy cases.
Dear Dr. Chan,
I am compel to share with you some of my own inside scoop of the rescuers after reading your blog and your venting.
Honestly, I do not have the energy and the strength to do what you do; that is why I admire what you do through AnimalCare.org.
Yes, there are many categorie...

On My Way Home Today… 29th Feb 2012, by AnimalCare
As I was about to turn into the guardhouse, I saw this…
It’s a Golden Retriever and what appears to be a terrier or shitzu (sorry, I’m hopeless at identifying purebreds) going for a stroll, but the small fellow is in the middle of the road, nonchalant about the possible dangers.
I slowed down, and tailed them from a distance, to ensure they were safe.
The retriever sort of “guided” the small one to cross the road and the two went on happily on their stroll.
Th...

When Diva Was Here… 29th Feb 2012, by AnimalCare
For the last two days…
…while Diva was here,
My two youngest cats were clearly jealous.
Tabs hissed.
Indy took voluntary exile and sought asylum….behind Pole’s condo.
Can you spot him?
There….
And that night, he refused to come into the room. He spent the night on the chair at the Clubhouse, to be as far away as possible from the rest….as a mark of protest!
Luckily our place is now escape-proof, otherwise, Indy might have run away from home agai...

Diva, At Mary’s House 29th Feb 2012, by AnimalCare
Here are some updates on Diva, at Mary’s house:
Hi KY
Diva settled well in my house yesterday. She sleep throughout the car ride (must be tired after exploring your house the whole day) and well behaved when I introduced her to Uncle Tigger and Aunty Winnie, but the two hissed at her. Both, Tigger and Winnie went on hunger strike and you can see in one of the pic, Winnie tucked herself in the bathroom sink ha ha ha.
She spent few hours exploring the entire house after ‘checked-in...

My Deepest Apologies, The Mistake Is Most Regretted 29th Feb 2012, by AnimalCare
I was informed this morning by a friend that one of my blog posts in the previous weeks had contained the price of the food (Sunsuper-food) purchased by a certain shelter operator and the name of the shop from which it was purchased was also published. You know how I always cut and paste what is sent to me and the only information I remove are vets’ and clinic names.
Inadvertently, that one blog post had created a lot of unpleasant complaints to the shop owner because other customers went ...

Join Soi Dog's Sponsorship Club Today! 29th Feb 2012, by Soi Dog Foundation
One of the most effective ways you can help all the dogs in soi Dog's care is through a monthly sponsorship of one of them. Your sponsorship of around 80 cents a day provides the much needed funding to help carry out the work of helping the neglected and abused animals.
http://www.soidog.org/en/sponsor-a-dog-o r-cat/
Dooby is just one of the over 300 dogs at the shelter who you can sponsor.
Dooby arrived at the shelter in a terrible state, poor love. He had a dreadful fungal infection all ove...

A Bed Of Thorns, Part Two 29th Feb 2012, by AnimalCare
Ref: http://myanimalcare.org/2012/02/28/a-bed-of- thorns/
Updates on 29th Feb, at 8.00am:
These two applicants are not from the Klang Valley, so it had been rather difficult for me to get the resources to check out their “shelters” and what they do. But as luck would have it, someone wrote to me last night with more news about this “hoarder”. YES, she IS a hoarder. Apparently, it is not due to ignorance, but plain stubbornness (the “I know what I am doing, so don&...

A Bed Of Thorns 28th Feb 2012, by AnimalCare
I just had a most unpleasant conversation with a rescuer who is asking for food subsidy. I cannot BELIEVE how unreasonable and demanding some people can be. When they ask for help, they dictate terms and it’s worse when they use the “I’ve done this for umpteen years and I know what I’m doing” line on you.
Since when, in our human culture, dare we dictate terms when we ask another for help?
We have a food subsidy but we also have very strict rules on who qualifies. T...

Urgent Help Needed To Rescue An Injured Cat (Shain Rashid’s) 28th Feb 2012, by AnimalCare
Shain Rashid (016-3412980) has requested help to rescue an injured cat who has a bad wound on its left jaw. If you are able to help, kindly contact her directly and make arrangements.
This cat needs treatment urgently. I hope Shain will get the cat treated once rescued. We have offered our medical subsidy.
I’ve also asked Shain if it might be possible for her to pick up the cat and send it for medical treatment as the wound looks really bad, rather than wait for so...
