Sponsorship For Neutering Of 2 Male Cats (Maslinda Abd Talib’s) 26th Apr 2012, by AnimalCare
We have fully sponsored the neutering of 2 male cats, brought in by Maslinda Abd Talib. The rates at this vet is equivalent to our subsidy rates.
While at the vet’s (photos courtesy of Koo):
The neutering could not be done on the same day as there were many emergencies at the vet, so it was postponed to the next day.
The cats have been neutered and have returned home now. All is well, as can be seen from the photos below, sent by Maslinda.

4 Puppies For Adoption (Steve Mettler’s) 26th Apr 2012, by AnimalCare
From Steve:
Hi Dr Chan
My Wife and I rescued these 4 pups from the compound of an electrical station, they were running under the fence into the street and in danger of getting hit by passing cars. They are about 4 to 5 months old. They are now fully vaccinated , dewormed and spayed/neutered. They are trained to do their business on puppy pads (which they do very well) and they like to sleep in crates (with doors opened) lined with towels.
My Wife and I are going to be moving back to the ...

Look at these beautiful cards - each one with an important "help the animals" message - created by the talented Year 3 students at Chatsworth East School. They'll be selling the cards to raise funds for ACRES! We've really enjoyed the time we've spent with the students whilst delivering our HEAL educational programme over the past few weeks, and a big thank you to Rebecca Arnow and Leana Doray for arranging this!

Happy Tails From SPCA! 26th Apr 2012, by SPCA Selangor
APRIL 2012 - "Hello SPCA! This is Sasa, the adorable cow-coloured dog that we've adopted from SPCA Ampang last year, on the 14th of April. So, today's her first unofficial birthday! Sasa was a victim of animal cruelty as some heartless person scalded her with hot water when she was only a puppy. A Malay man with a heart of gold brought her to the SPCA when he discovered the wounded puppy. Sasa survived the ordeal but now bears a huge scar on her back. We noticed her at the SPCA when we saw her s...

Can We Neuter Our Way Out Of Killing? 26th Apr 2012, by AnimalCare
Huey shared this: http://www.nathanwinograd.com/?p=9022
I think it’s really, really good food for thought.
The gist of it is that the author questions if neutering is THE best way to control overpopulation and he thinks it is NOT.
He thinks it should start with having no-kill shelters.
There must be no-kill shelters first, and then, there has to be neutering. The two must co-exist.
I must say I totally and absolutely agree. And that is why, as hard as it is sometimes (in difficult cases...

Message:
Hi Dr.Chan,
This female dog was seen wandering around the area near Menjalara park
for about 3 weeks already. I initially thought she belongs to one of
the shop owners. But everytime I go there to feed the strays, she
would seem very hungry and so I gave her food as well. I asked around
about this dog and no one seems to know who th...

Good morning KY!
Since you’ve been busy taking care and worrying about Indy, I’m thinking maybe you’ll like to blog my story about trying out World’s Best Cat Litter.
I’ve read about World’s Best Cat Litter (WBCL) for many years but never managed to get a pack until yesterday afternoon. It claims to be totally safe for pets, people and the environment. It’s flushable and se...

Indy Eats On His Own! 26th Apr 2012, by AnimalCare
Last night was, thankfully, uneventful, so Indy and I slept through the night.
This morning, I awoke early as I had made a fresh batch of homecooked food late last night and I was going to blend it all this morning as it was too hot last night. It was sealed tightly in the pressure cooker, so no worries about bacteria contamination there.
I got everything blended while everyone else watched from the grille.
I dished out the food to the 6 of them plus Bobby, and was going to feed Indy.
But he dec...

Spaying Subsidy For A Female Cat (Hew Sook Yean’s) 26th Apr 2012, by AnimalCare
Ever since implementing our subsidy scheme so that we can reach out to rescuers all over the country (we did away with panel vets), our former panel vets have been given our subsidy forms so that they can recommend needy rescuers to apply for our subsidy.
One of our former panel vets have been recommending many rescuers to our fund, which is a good thing, especially when it is through recommendation of the vet. At least we know the vet thinks the rescuer needs the subsidy, ie. a first round of &...

Updates On 26th Apr 2012 26th Apr 2012, by Soi Dog Foundation
SHEBA. Very sad to have to advise that little Sheba like Hanako before her has passed away during the night.
She ate well last night but was not to be. This is why the Hanako hospital is so important as will then be able to totally segregate new arrivals who could be carrying these diseases.
Please donate today at: www.soidog.org and wish Sheba a great after life.

Methycobal For Indy 25th Apr 2012, by AnimalCare
The vet told me yesterday that between Neurobion and Methycobal, the latter is more potent since it has B12. So, this evening, I went to check at the local pharmacy and the pharmacist also recommended Methycobal for nerve ailment.
Methycobal is very much smaller in size compared with Neurobion, hence, much easier to feed. The pharmacist gave me a discount and it is only RM7.50 for 10 tablets. He said normally, for nerve repair, it is recommended to take for 2 months in humans, but for animals, ...

The Issue 25th Apr 2012, by Animal Concerns Research & Education Society (ACRES)
Did you know that there is now a ban in place on animal testing for cosmetics and their ingredients in the European Union, as well as on the sale of some cosmetics that have been tested on animals elsewhere in the world?
Croatia and Norway have followed suit by banning animal tests for cosmetics and ingredients, and in 2015 Israel will also implement a ban.
However, there are no restrictions in other parts of the world, including the U.S. and Asia.
Find out more at http://www.crueltyfreeinter...
