DONT LEAVE ANIMALS IN CARS!

Recently in the U.S., there have been cases of people being charged, under animal cruelty laws, for leaving their dogs in their cars.

Here in Singapore, weve also experienced cases of pets being left in cars, only to be defenceless against the immense heat inside, as their owners went about their usual errands.

It is certainly not cool, and not okay, to leave pets in the sweltering heat! Even with the windows rolled down, or even for a short while, the temperature inside a stationary car – can soar in mere minutes! With their much smaller bodies, animals can sustain brain damage or even die from heatstroke, in just under 15 minutes.

Just imagine how difficult itll be for dogs to cool themselves in the stationary car, given that they can only cool themselves down by panting and by sweating through their paw pads!

If you do see an animal left alone in a car, please stay on the scene and alert the owner where you can. (Try reaching the owner through the public address announcement system, too, if the owner isnt in sight.) You would be saving a life in the process!

Otherwise, please take down the cars colour, model, make and licence plate number, and quickly alert SPCA (at 62875355 extension 9, any time) and/or the police at 999.

Recent cases of Americans charged under U.S. laws for leaving their pets in their cars are exemplified by these:
