My name is HURAY and I am one of the lucky ones, as I have recently learnt what my fate would have been had Soi Dog not rescued me. I was saved from a certain excruciating death – I was destined for a restaurant dinner table in another country and the thought of how they would have tortured and then killed me paralyses me with fear – all in the name of “fine dining”…

Late at night I was taken from the front of my house and crammed into a cage full of other dogs. I was trembling so much with fear and shock as I watched my house disappear as the truck drove away.

I am a medium sized dog but it was extremely painful being squashed in the metal cage with other dogs. Where were these people taking me? I could hear the younger dogs crying in pain as we travelled through the night and the older dogs unable to cope with the stress and heat during the day and many dying. I am not sure how many dogs died on the journey but there was less and less noise as we drove…

By some miracle, the truck I was travelling in was intercepted by people working with Soi Dog and I am now living at a dog meat trade rescue shelter in North Thailand with ONE THOUSAND FIVE HUNDRED other dogs.

While I am thankful to be here, I would dearly like to find a forever home with a comfortable bed, nice food and a family to love me. I live in a compound with hundreds of other dogs and am just existing day to day trying to avoid being attacked by gangs of the more ferocious dogs as there are over 300 dogs loose in my compound..

Some days are a struggle I will be honest and I wonder will this be my life forever..
