Appeal for Information – Dog allegedly abandoned at SPCA’s premises, on 19 Oct 2014 (Sun) morning

On 19/10/2014 at about 0907hrs, a couple (as recorded through SPCAs closed-circuit TV system) is seen entering SPCAs premises, leading (possibly) their pet dog into the compound. Then, minutes later, they are seen leaving SPCA without that dog.

According to our closed-circuit TV footage, the same couple has not attempted any formal surrendering / handing over of the dog to SPCA.

The dog has been spotted, by SPCA officers, shortly afterwards, tied to the perimeter fencing close to SPCAs main gate, and left unattended. (See photos here)

The dog, according to our officers and veterinarians, is a female, Chihuahua-Long Haired Pomeranian Cross. She is estimated to be 12-14 years old, and has a generally sweet disposition (though she is still adapting to our shelter environment). She seems to be afflicted with arthritis (as is typical of the older dogs), and her nails are overgrown, pointing to being possibly neglected. (See photo here)

The dog is currently under our observation, and will be up for adoption in due course, at which time her adoption details will be posted on the online SPCA adoption gallery.

Any keen fosterer and/or adopter, at this point in time, is welcomed to contact SPCA at 62875355 ext 9, to take ownership of this dog.

SPCA appeals to members of the public to help us identify the couple (or the man, at least) and/or the allegedly abandoned dog, to assist us in our on-going investigations of this case.

(Under the provisions of the Animals & Birds Act (pending revision), any offender convicted of animal cruelty, including wilful pet neglect and/or abandonment, will be liable to a fine of up to S$10,000, a jail term of up to one year, or both.)
