Why is this tiger making a funny face? This tiger is exhibiting a Flehmen response, an action whereby an animal curls it’s upper lip back exposing it’s teeth and tongue to sniff pheromones in the air. This allows the scent to be taken directly to the vomeronasal organ on the roof of the mouth, which in turn helps determine the condition of the scent’s owner.
