SELF-AWARENESS IN NON-HUMAN ANIMALS
Many of us who have lived with, worked with, or simply observed non-human animals believe that many species are self-aware. But what about the scientific evidence?
A recent study into self-awareness in non-human animals suggests that many animals are self-aware, with neural evidence that animals can project themselves into the future indicating that they must have a sense of self. This could have important implications in the field of animal welfare.
Self-awareness is something often described as unique to mankind, but a team of researchers at the University of Warwick believe it is felt by many more animals.
