MAN FINED FOR ANIMAL CRUELTY AFTER POISONING DOG

On the 4th July, 2015, a young man was charged and fined for poisoning a dog who he claims was killing his chickens.

This arrest came as a result of a citizen making a report after seeing a post on Facebook and reported it to police. Watch Dog Thailand, Soi Dog’s undercover unit, worked with local police to investigate and this man was charged with animal cruelty without reasonable cause.

This man was brought in front of a court and fined 6000 THB. He was also given a suspended jail sentence.

While this punishment may seem small to some, 6000 THB is a lot of money to many people in Thailand and this result will act as a deterrent to potential offenders.

Before the introduction of Thailand’s new animal welfare laws, this man would have gotten away with this crime. We cannot thank the police enough for pursuing this case and for ensuring this man was punished.
