Found, then fostered: FELIX, the Chihuahua

Felix, a 2-year-old male, tri-coloured Chihuahua, was found, allegedly abandoned, in a cage somewhere along Lorong Ah Soo, on 14 July 2015. He was found with a skin fungal condition, and was immediately treated and then observed by the SPCAs veterinarians for a month, before being placed on our Foster Care Programme.

A dedicated fosterer, Ms Simone Woodworth, kindly offered to help care for Felix as they embarked on a foster journey together, in late August. Simone gave the dog a warm and nurturing home environment to prepare him for his adoptive home. In her care, Felixs skin condition improved tremendously. Following slightly over a month of foster care, he was reviewed by our veterinarians to have recovered and is doing well. Felix has been sterilised just prior to being quarantined in our shelter, and should be up for adoption soon. Do watch this space for updates!

The SPCA thanks Simone for having joined Felix on his life journey thus far, and helping him make great progress in his health and confidence levels. (Also deserving mention are our very committed Animal Care Officers who have taken great care of Felix all this while, including the time before his fostering.)

Keen to help the SPCA foster suitable animals? Fostering an animal, as Simone has done, can be a wonderful bonding experience for you and your family. The rewards are intangible, as you would be actually saving a life and making a difference. By helping to foster animals until space becomes available in our shelter and the animals become older and better able to cope with kennel life, you are helping us save more lives.
