Ever since Vincent’s second gum jab, things have not exactly gone as planned. I’m not sure whether that’s good or bad, though.

I ordered the Oxyfresh Pet Deodoriser, meant to be dropped into their drinking water… The vet had told me that in some of his gingivitis patients, it helps.

I only put a drop into the water bowl. Only a drop and we humans cannot even smell a thing even if you put your nose to the bottle.

Guess what Vincent did?

He boycotted the water bowl for 3 days. For the first two days, he simply walked off after eating and this is not normal for Vincent because his habit is to go drink water after every meal (without fail). Are cats’ noses SO sensitive? I suppose it is.

On the third day (I was already freaking out by then), he went to the water bowl, sniffed at it and walked away.

So that’s it.

Vincent – 1, Me – 0.

No more using the Pet Deodoriser. Luckily it is not entirely wasted since it can be used as a deodorising spray as well. Or if anyone wants to buy it over, please let me know.

So, the Pet Deodoriser is out.

I’ve been so involved in Vincent’s treatment that I’ve come to a point where Vincent just looks at me and I think I know what he wants. Telepathic communication? Vincent’s ability. Not mine. He is actually able to tell me what he wants, more of telling me what food he wants.

He has refused to eat his turmeric and fish oil. I don’t know why, but I’ve opted to listen to the cat. Maybe the cat knows better. Maybe he knows this isn’t working. Instead, he wants to eat BARF, Monge and Tuscan kibble.

I’m also experimenting with giving him raw chicken meat, to give him something to chew on. On the first few days, he ate this up heartily, but now, he doesn’t seem to want it. I think Vincent is a super-fussy cat – maybe he wants it super-fresh, not after it has been defrosted from the freezer. Well, it’s okay, because Cleo, Indy and Bunny love raw chicken so they can eat it up and they don’t mind it being defrosted and thawed. I think Vincent wants it fresh.

The things we do for our cats….

Eating raw chicken breast meat. They all want it fresh. Fussy cats!

I’m also giving Vincent Transfer Factor. The Advanced Plus has mushroom extracts and according to this (http://products.mercola.com/healthypets/mushroom-complex-for-pets/), it’s supposed to be good for pets too.

The vet had already told me that for gingivitis, each cat would respond differently. I can only try and see what works for Vincent.

What wouldn’t we do for them…
