Pancake: From Unwanted Dog To Canine Ambassador

Nine years ago, Pancake and her 8 puppies were dumped at the Soi Dog shelter. Early on, Pancake joined our sponsorship programme, which ensures that all the animals at Soi Dog get the care they need and deserve. To learn more go to http://bit.ly/sponsor_a_special_dog

It’s always a special day when a sponsored dog is adopted. Many of them have to overcome trauma from their past, and it’s not easy to trust humans again.

Today we celebrate Pancake’s very unique graduation from the sponsorship programme.

Pancake was adopted by a Soi Dog staff member who has looked after Pancake for several years now. But that’s not all. Pancake has also proven to be an incredible ambassador for Soi Dog’s community outreach programme.

Twice now Pancake has attended community outreach programme workshops to teach community members about properly caring for dogs. Soi Dog staff use Pancake as a model dog to teach such things as how to handle a dog and how to clean a dog’s eyes and ears.

Workshop attendees learn how to give street dogs proper housing, enrichment, and grooming. They also learn how to identify signs of illness, give oral medication, and administer practical first aid such as bandaging.

The community outreach programme works with heads of local communities, temples, and people who feed street dogs to hold these animal care workshops all over the island of Phuket, Thailand.

We are so proud of Pancake for her important contributions to animal welfare education. And we are so proud of all her hard work. She has made quite a journey – from unwanted dog to canine ambassador!

Pancake’s success is all thanks to people like you who invest in the Soi dogs that need special care. Today, in honour of Pancake, please sponsor another dog who needs you. Join our sponsorship programme here: http://bit.ly/sponsor_a_special_dog
