An old man or warmly known as tatak among the indigenous people from the Jahai tribe, calmly maneuvers his raft made of bamboo in the Royal Belum State park. Tatak usually starts his day early in the morning to hunt with his blowpipe. These days, maintaining his livelihoods is a constant struggle as he needs to compete with modern hunters who use firearms. His safety is also in question as he faces threats from poachers in the jungle. The rainforests are bursting with life of various species of plants and animals, for people like tatak, they call the rainforest their home.

As of 2015, the indigenous peoples of Malaysia was estimated to account for 13.9% of the 31 million total population. Most of them are scattered in forest reserves in Malaysia, still living their ancestral nomadic ways of life. WWF-Malaysias Community Engagement and Education (CEE) programme focuses on engaging, collaborating and empowering local communities towards sustainable livelihood options and conservation of species and natural resources.
