Our former CEO Dato Dr Mikaail Kavanagh releasing turtles in Padang Kemunting, Melaka. He arrived in Malaysia in 1978 to co-ordinate the Malaysian Primates Research Programme for Cambridge University with Universiti Pertanian Malaysia and University Kebangsaan Malaysia.

He then spent 25 years with WWF-Malaysia, starting with assisting the Sarawak Forest Department to establish new protected areas, and later 16 years as national CEO through 2006.

In 2000, he proposed that WWF explore the idea of creating transboundary protected areas along the Indonesia/Malaysia border, with Brunei joining in later what would eventually become the Heart of Borneo (HoB) Initiative.

He’ll be the keynote speaker for the International Conference on the Heart of Borneo. “A Decade of Heart of Borneo Initiative: Accomplishments and the Way Forward” is the theme. It will be held from 24th to 25th October, 2017 at Magellan Sutera Harbour Resort, Kota Kinabalu, Sabah.

Come celebrate WWF-Malaysia’s 45th anniversary gig at The Bee, Publika on 25 Nov 2017. Featuring bands like Ryota Katayama, The Metaphor, Kaya and Panda Jam, made up entirely of WWF-Malaysia staff and our current CEO, Dr Dino. Come and catch Wild Wild Fever. #WWFmy #Wild
