A little blurb about Ninja:
Four months ago, my cleaner noticed that a very sickly and thin black puppy moved into our neighbourhood. She took residence in a pipe branching from the huge monsoon drain near the main road but cleverly stayed out of sight, coming out only at night to forage for food. A neighbour and I, unbeknownst to each other, then took it upon ourselves to put food out for Ninja everyday. At first she was very elusive and stayed out of sight, but when she grew bolder and started showing up in broad daylight, we worried that the dogcatchers would come for her. Worse, we feared she would get eventually get pregnant as packs of male dogs who had recently moved into our neighbourhood. Fortunately, I was able to secure the help of an experienced rescuer and together we were able to trap and capture her in the garden of the neighbour who had been feeding her. She was immediately dispatched to a vet for neutering, and then brought back three days later and kept in my house compound. Unfortunately, she did not take well to captivity and discovered that she could escape by squeezing herself through the 4-inch gaps in the garden wall. Amazingly, however, she comes back every evening for dinner and plays with my dogs whom she got familiar with during her convalescence.
