Do you stay at Reflections at Keppel? We need your help.

ACRES received calls about 3 monkeys sighted in Pasir panjang (The Village) in April, followed by sightings at the condos Caribbean, Reflections and Corals at Keppel in May. Unfortunately, some people have been feeding the monkeys.

Thanks to the cooperation from these condos, ACRES has conducted 3 engagement sessions jointly with the Agri-Food & Veterinary Authority of Singapore (AVA) and Jane Goodall Institute (Singapore) at all these sites, in addition to several visits to talk to estate managers and residents separately by ACRES.

The situation has improved and we are heartened that many residents during all the engagements were keen to learn on #coexistence with wildlife. Thanks to the AVA for also continually raising awareness and educating that removal is not the solution.

However we understand that Reflections has started trapping operations and one macaque has been trapped.

ACRES is keen to help address the management and residents’ concerns and we hope to do a door-door survey and education at the condo.

Relocation options for a trapped individual is almost zero, and this macaque who has been trapped may have to be killed.

Can we choose coexistence over removal/culling?
