All dog are like this till they grow older. This is her young day, just like human during our young day, who never make mistake before.Forgive and forget.Just be patience, they will behave better when they get older. How to stop a dog from barking.I read this frm a book.U can use a tin and fill it wz coins so that it make loud noise.Than when ur dog bark, say quiet than throw the tin Near to his leg him but not to him.Another method use a water gun and aim to his head. Each time he bark, say quiet and shoot the water gun at him.Another method, Buy a mouth cover and say quiet, she is still bark, let him wear.Next time if he bark say quiet and let him see the mouth cover.U can buy this from the pet shop.Hoping next time ur dog will understand each time if he not quiet as u ask him, bad omen will come. As for gardening, let ur dog taste and smell some rice vineger or any smell he dont like.If he dont like the taste, spray the vineger to ur plant everyday few day and see if he still bite.

Hi, How is Lucky now? Still love gardening? Maybe he is really bored or seeking for attention? My Belle Belle loves gardening as well. I tried to keep her away from the garden when she is out of my sight. But she always has her own way to climd all the way out the fence, do her gardening, & climb back to the fence, act like nothing happen. *headache* She even taught another dog of mine to do gardening with her.

btw, my dogs will still bark at my father b not me, my mum and sistes. coz my father never ever spend anytime with them. they are 2 yrs old now, sometimes my dogs will also bite da plant and making noisy at night, scolding or wacking will never stop them. behavior could be trained but the 1st condition is u MUST SPEND TIME, it could be weeks, months. so good luck to u...:)

jason, spending an hour a day is never enough.... espeacially when u spend that hour to feed and cleanig, if u rally can't spend more time with him, letting him go is da best option. but pls find him a good family. every pup have diffrent behavior, some of them could be very obidient but some of them are wild, so if yo really wanna keep lucky, my opinion is u have to secrisfied some of ur time with him. for my experience some puppy will cry when they r hungry or they wanna poo/pee.

Any advices from certified rescuers from PF ?
Another dog of mine is also a mongrel. He doesnt behave like Lucky. BTW, the other 1 is 8 month old and maybe both dog behavior are diff. Lucky will only bark at my family but not strangers. Is it normal for a 4 month old pup now? If I cage him, that's even worse ! I caged him last time but he barked non stop and so loud. Then I released him and let him run everywhere at the car porch. Next morning, shit is everywhere.. Soil from plant everywhere...Destroyed plants is everywhere..I resorted to tie him nowadays. I dont like to chain my dog. My first pup wasnt chain nor cage after 2 weeks brought him back and he doesnt walk out of the house even when the gate was totally open. Lucky will run out even the gate was just ajar. I warn Lucky for not damaging the plants by saying "NO" in a stern way and have a sharp look at him. He doesn't care. He continue biting the plants. I gave him bones to bite but my first dog will snatch. Even I gave 2 bones (each of them 1), my first dog tend to snatch Lucky's bone and make me really busy getting and returning the bones and this happen again and again and again ... He doesn't scare of me when I scold him. He will stick his tongue out and wag his tail if i scold him in a loud tone. He's nont gonna scare of me though i whack him quite a number of times. I gave warning for the 1st time and he doesnt listen. then i use hand to whack, he still doesnt listen. then i use rotan to whack. he listen and sit for a while. I went in take bath and came out with soil all over the car porch. I brought him and let him smell the plant and soil and whack and scolded him. Next morning, destroyed plants all over the car porch.
Hope someone can give me advice...

DoggyDoggy, I agree with Rusty that the best thing would be to seek help from a professional trainer, but I would add one thing: this is still a puppy, and he will need a lot of exercise. Do you spend some of the training time in play, like throwing a ball for him to fetch, etc? If he doesn't get enough exercise, he's more likely to use his energy destructively. Good luck!

Exactly, furthermore, a 4 months must be very curious of everything happening around him. That's the reason that make him barks. Give him some toys to chew.

I think ur dog training methods used is not right.. :) Get some advices from certified rescuers.. Check them out from PF.. They may able to help u out..
Urs is juz a mongrel, giving u headache oredi.. Mine is Min Pin, barking lot too.. Shud be worse than urs.. Initially, their barking are really annoying n non stop but now they r ok.. Wont simply bark.. They will behave after sometime.. Pls give Lucky some more time n be patient with him.. If barking at nite, maybe u can caged him.. Reward him b4 sleep.. He will know is sleeping time.. Wont simply bark unless ur hse being intruded.. U can groom him into a good guard dog..
Destruction by dogs.. common things.. Many plants in my hse were damaged too.. Can warn or punish in right ways.. later they wont touch it again.. They will learn.. I dun chain my dogs for no reason.. Btw, do u walk ur dogs?? It is good to walk them.. Release their energy n they wont have so muz energy to destroy ur hse.. Give him a toy to play n destroy.. It will work..
Hitting dog.. Dun make him scare of u.. I have a bad experience about this.. Felt sad n sorry about it... Hitting/whacking wont solve the problem.. 1st Train, 2nd Warn.. hitting as a punishment only come in at last stage.. BUT muz tell n show them what mistakes they had made b4 hitting them.. Ur face expression n voice tone will tell them.. Cant juz shout n whack blindly.. they wont know y they being whacked.. How we expect them to behave better? Rite?

Rusty - How much time approx shud I give him until he behaves better? He doesn't seem to response well to my instructions. I spent time to train him, approx 30 min a day, and another 30 min to feed him and clean his shit and pees. Is the time I spent training him enuff ? That's the max amount of time I can spent wth him each day. I know that 2 dogs in a hse is not a lot. If he behaves the same as my first dog, I would consider taking in 1 more beside Lucky. Oh yeah, he likes to bark a lot ! How to train him stop barking? I asked him many times stop barking, he never listen. I beat him when he barks, he runs away and after whack him, he stop for a while and 2 hours later... the legend continues....I think I might scare his potential adopters away, but I would like the adopter to set an expectation. He's currently tied. I released him before this and he ruined the plants and flowers. I think he needs a larger compound to run around. Hope you can give me some advice. I planned to keep him. If not I won't take him in. As you can see, his vaccination and deworming is up-to-date. I just hope that the future adopter can have more time spending wth him. I'm putting him up for adoption as he's still young. If he continues to be like this and I'm putting up for adoption then, isn't that more cruel as he has already adapted to me so much ?

Hi Eileen - My friend rescued him. I initially wanted to keep him so that my another dog has company. But, I've not enuff time to take care of 2 doggies. He's kinda too active for me and a lil bit mischievous. If only he's more "diam" type, I wish I would keep him. Would you be able to find an adopter? I really hope that he can find a good home...
