About The Pet
Found! Retriever mix in SS22/31, Damansara Jaya.
Gender : Male Breed : Appears to be a Retriever mix. Colour : Cream base, with beige spots Size : Medium Wearing : Blue collar with bell Found : 16 Feb 2011 first, 17 Mar 2011 second! Notes : Fairly old, Cataract on left eye Behavior: Very friendly, likes to roll over to show his belly, well-behaved, likes being indoors (but we have to keep him outdoors..)
On Feb 16, Murphy (as I'm calling him ) was across the road when I was returning home. He crossed over, allowed me to pet him, followed me into my yard, squeezed thru the bars of my grill door, and then deposited himself happily on my living room!
He stayed for 4 days behaving as though he's been with us for years letting us feed & walk & bathe him, then wondered out the gate on 20th Feb and disappeared.
Today, he showed up again - this time at my next door neighbour's house, thinking it's his home! He's now back with us. It seems he is trying to find his home when I took him for a walk, but he kept stopping at wrong houses (!) and no one in the neighbourhood seems to recognize him.
Am temporarily keeping here in my D'sara Jaya home. By April, I will be moving him to my parents' home in Ipoh with our Snowie dog for company.

Hi ttdi,
Thank you for your kind words :)
I've been trying to find where he lives, when taking him for walks. If he gets excited or wants to go on a particular direction, I let him take the lead. He has stopped at a few houses (parked his doggie behind down in front of the gate) but when I asked the houseowners, they say they don't even own a dog!
Today, he squeezed through the bars of one gate and didn't want to leave the compound. But at that time, there wasn't anyone in the house. The neighbour next door said the house is occupied by college students and it seems there was a dog as well. But the neighbour isn't sure if Murphy is that dog.
I'll hop by that house later today to see if it is his home. He was quite reluctant to leave, and he looks a little mopey when he came back with me(cheered him up with biscuits and pats).
Hopefully that house is really his home!

With your short but inspiring story about such a friendly dog who came, left and found again, it's truly a case where absence makes the heart grow fonder.
If it happened to me, I would have been wondering what happened to him when he left, fervently hoping that he found his way home safely but yet, always dreading that the council dog catchers may have got to him.
If no one claims him, your family are certainly a better owner for him. |
