Dear PF

Like to share this infomation with you all.
This dog named AH DUMMP (mean balck in Thai) was belongs to Mr. Hanno from Germany now PR in Thailand. He is my swiftlet partner and managing our Swiftlet Birdhouse in Trang Thailand.

I believe many of us hardly known or view a RIDGEBACK'S dog before.

There are 2 breeds of RIDGEBACK'S dog. One is called RHODESIAN RIDGEBACK dog found in South Africa. Its country of origin is Zimbabwe and the other one is called THAI RIDGEBACK Dog (Mah Thai)found in Thailand.

No one is sure of the exact THAI RIDGEBACK'S origin, but the breed did come from Eastern Thailand. Some rock art depicts dogs similar to the Thai Ridgeback which suggests the breed may be very old. The THAI RIDGEBACK is rare outside of Thailand; as a result there has been much inbreeding in the country which has made the dogs very similar.

The THAI RIDGEBACK is a unique looking dog. Their name comes from the ridge on their back where its hair grows in the opposite direction to the rest of their hair.

Sawadee krup Alien, This dog is not belongs to me. I just posted it for PF to view. Yes you can apply for licence to bring in Malaysia. If no permit still can bring in, as long you prepare to give some KOPI MONEY at custom check point. Many people dont know there is a small Kampung at Perlis got a custom check point where things you bring back from Thailand seldom check at all.

Hi Buffy, ur 1st comment......I dont get what you mean by izzit true? But y le?.... Reply ur 2nd comment ....yes it was an unique dog and the 1st time I saw a Thai Ridgeback abt 10 years ago at Phuket.

Hi Chino, Thk u for helping me to verify to our bro Alien abt my post. you did a great job. he he

Hi Buffy....no need to apologise.....as long u can understand abit more or less my English that will be fine enough.......No problem buffy, in future if I do snap any rare animals picture sure I will post it to share at PF.

Hi Chino.....you are not Kepoing and I value you as helping ha! Ha! I was at Montreal Canada some years ago but I never spot any African Ridgeback dog yet. Sometime on weekend I go to Trio River National Park where folks bring their pet dogs and mostly are big dogs like GSD, BS and Rottweiler for active training. By the way many local Thai give raw meat to their Ridgeback puppies to make them pre fears.

kennyphon   May 18th 2009 at 4:21PM
Hi Buffy, I dare not to be an animals consultant like what you said...later MKA sue me because they cannot cari makan and than SPCA remote me to Pulau Ketam to do documentary stray dogs. Ha! Ha!. Aiyah no Joke no fun mah he he.

Very high possible if stray dogs, end up in no man Island, within the next 3 to 5 genaration will turn them perfectly wild dogs like what happened in Australia. The Dingo dogs was used as hunting dog in the early days then endup to be a wild dogs. Wild Dingo is 2nd ranking in position after Wolf.

I've read that Ridgebacks are very good and loyal guard dogs. Very fierce towards intruders but like puppies to their owners... is this true?

Is it possible to get Ridgebacks in KL? I would love to have one. :)

cool... they were really a great breed, almost immune to most disease and sturdy build ups. might be a bit protective, but they were born as a hunter, and was train to help pacify lions. i wish i could have one as my henchman...
