Politics of the natural world:
ACRES hotline: Could you please help keep an eye on the snake if he is on the pathway? We will take about 45 minutes to reach.
Caller: No worries. A kingfisher is guarding the snake. The snake will be here when you reach in 45 minutes.
ACRES hotline: ??? *Blur* Okay, thank you. We will see you soon.
Upon arrival, it was true that the Little Heron at that time of the day (around 10 pm plus) was confronting the baby python and did not let him go into the river or climb out. The caller was so patient and understanding when we insisted to leave the python alone and our duty was to only separate both the animals, as canals are pythons’ natural habitat. Neither us nor the public watching the drama could figure why the Python WAS scared of the Heron and what exactly did the Heron want. Pythons of bigger size are capable of hunting birds if necessary, and probably it was the instinct that alarmed the bold heron.Source: http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10150882054581523&set=a.223077136522.136042.22159071522&type=1
