Dear Dr Chan,

I would like to apply for the subsidy for the above dog. This dog is rescued by Mdm Eng in front of her house . His condition is verybad. The dog was hiding under a car opposite Mdm Eng’s house. When she arrived the dog walked to her and she immediately gave himsome food. As we do not have a place to keep him for the night, Eng asked him to go in the car. He was such a lovely dog. He went inthe car and slept thru the night. Poor dog must be very hungry and tired. He didn’t even poo and pee in the car up to the next morning.

We sent him to the vet first thing in the morning. His fur are all badly matted and the vet shaved it all. The eye is swollen and full of maggots. The vet gave him some antibiotic to reduce the swelling and is still removing the maggots. Hundreds of maggots were removed but stilleveryday there are maggots and the eyes is still swollen. They will have to slowly remove all the maggots to see how deep the wound is.The estimated bill is around rm1500 – rm1800. We named him “Luckyboy” hoping he will have a more lucky life after he is cure. As thebill is quite high, i am planning to submit to Petfinder too.

Pls advise accordingly.

Thank you.

Regards,
Mei Kueen

Hi Dr Chan,
Just an update on Luckyboy. Today Eng went to check on him. She was so surprised there was so much
changes on Luckyboy. She couldn’t believe it is him.
The vet said they managed to save the eye so he will not be blind but his vision will be affected. He don’t need to have an
operation and should be able to discharge in another two week’s time. There are still dead maggots falling out off and on.
They still have to monitor the maggots before the wound close up.
Thank God that his condition is so much better. I hope the bill will be much cheaper since it doesn’t require an operation.
Will update as often as possible.
Regards,
Mei Kueen
