Hoping For The Best After Being Treated For Maggot Infested Wound

Soi Dog Foundation received a call late last week about a dog who had a suspected gunshot wound. Animal rescue officer Khun Jaroon rushed to this dog’s aid and brought him straight back to the shelter where Dr Su performed an immediate assessment of Totoro’s condition. The vets at Soi Dog Foundation see many wounds come through the clinic and Dr Su determined that this was not a gunshot wound.

Totoro of course cannot tell us what happened to him, so all we can do is provide him with the best veterinary care. Soi Dog Foundation can only do this thanks to the generous supporters who make up the Emergency Response Team (https://www.soidog.org/en/donate-today/ert/ert.html).

Much time was spent removing maggots from Totoro’s wound and cleaning him up, ensuring he was comfortable. Totoro is not out of the woods just yet as the vet’s need to make sure this horrific wound does not become infected, which has the potential to be life-threatening. We are hoping for the best though that Totoro will make a full recovery.

Without your help it would be impossible to provide emergency care for dogs like Totoro. You can help Totoro and many other dogs by becoming a member of the Emergency Response Team. Emergency Responders, like you are the only people dogs and cats like Totoro have to turn to. Without you these poor souls would not be rescued and would die slow and painful deaths alone on the streets. Please become an Emergency responder today at: https://www.soidog.org/en/donate-today/ert/ert.html and make sure that the important work of helping dogs like Totoro continues.
