Palmy Learns To Stand On Her Remaining Three Legs

Hi, my name is Palmy. I came to the Soi Dog clinic with a serious wound on my foot. You can read my original story at https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.659722960736109.1073742625.108625789179165&type=3

I got myself into some serious trouble recently by getting a very nasty wound on my foot. Lucky for me, animal rescue officer Khun Thep noticed how badly I was struggling and decided I needed to come to the Soi Dog clinic.

Unfortunately the wound on my foot was so serious that the infection was spreading to my leg. The vets had to make the hard decision that my leg needed to be amputated. I was very scared about this, even though Dr Eed told me that dogs get by just fine with three legs.

It felt very strange after my operation having a leg missing, but at least I wasn’t in pain from my infection anymore. I had to have a lot of rest, but now that the surgery wound is healing I have been practicing standing on only 3 legs. I feel a bit wobbly but I am slowly getting the hang of it. My carers tell me that soon I will be able to go outside and practice walking. I am looking forward to that as I am sure the sooner I practice the better off I will be.

I would like to say thank you to the supporters who are part of the Emergency Response Team. This team allows urgent care to be given to dogs and cats like me. If you would like to join this team to ensure all the animals that come to Soi Dog Foundation receive the care they need, please visit https://www.soidog.org/en/donate-today/ert/ert.html
