Pregnant Cat With Bullet Wound Rescued From BQE By Brave Williamsburg Councilman

HEROIC NEWS!

WE SALUTE ALL OF YOU WHO TURN THE CAR AROUND

Williamsburg New York Councilmember Stephen Levin noticed a cat struggling on the side of the busy Bronx Queens Expressway. Stephen ctually got off the nearest exit and then turned around to go back for the cat whose paw was trapped in a storm drain. The cat gave Stephen a serious bite, but the rescuer refused to leave until she was free. Turns out, the cat is due to give birth any day now. Brooklyn Animal Resource Coalition is now taking care of the cat who actually has a bullet wound in one back leg and other significant signs of abuse. It’s astounding that after all she’s been through, she found a public servant who is looking out for all members of the community – whether they walk on two legs or four.

Today we salue Stephen Levin and all the good people who take the time to turn the car around.

Animal Rescue Chase

The Great Animal Rescue Chase celebrates the art of animal rescue with a worldwide race to rescue one million. It’s a free event, open to all, and is perhaps the only global animal rescue event aimed at helping any animal in distress, anywhere in the world. Our ambition is to create a culture of enthusiasm and pride in animal activism. We believe in teaching, by example, that there is a hero in each of us just waiting to be unleashed. Empowered animal lovers can not only save lives, but build the momentum for powerful animal welfare reform.
