Happy World Consumer Rights Day! Demand products to be made more sustainably. Your voice makes a difference.
Happy World Consumer Rights day, everyone! 😊
Annually, March 15 marks World Consumer Rights Day, as a means of raising global awareness about consumer rights and needs. Celebrating the day is a chance to demand that the rights of all consumers are respected and protected. In light of this day, did you know that as a consumer, you can make a difference in the move towards sustainable consumption and production?
Take, for example, products made from palm oil. Most of the products you use on a daily basis contain palm oil, from foods to cosmetics to household products. Because of this high demand, palm oil has been constantly linked to deforestation and loss of habitat. However, when cultivated properly and planted in the right places, production of palm oil would not negatively impact the environment. To this end, WWF is working with various stakeholders and government agencies to ensure the sustainability of the palm oil production.
Nonetheless, we also need you to help us get the message through to the industry players. Demand that producers be more sustainable in the production practices, and that only certified sustainable palm oil is used in their products. Your voice matters, and together, we can all make a difference!
