And It's A Wrap After 2 Days Of Discussing What Su..

…. And it’s a wrap! After 2 days of discussing what sustainable finance and the private sector can do to preserve and protect our planet, The Cooler Earth Summit officially comes to an end. The closing remarks were given by Dr. Xavier Jayakumar, Minister of Water, Land and Natural Resources (KATS). Dr. Xavier asked an important question – “What are we doing about climate change in our country?”

Malaysia is one of 13 countries with megadiversity. We have to pay more attention to what we have and how to preserve it. The responsibility falls onto all of us, but the private sector plays a big role in this preservation.

Dr. Xavier remarks were preceded by a thought-provoking talk by Cory Richards, a National Geographic explorer and photographer, who extensively works on how brands can responsibly engage in a more environmentally conscious business model.

“How many times do we have to learn lessons from the past, before we do something to change the future? Everything is interconnected. When we think exclusively, we fracture the entire system. We have to rethink capitalism, because thinking out of excess rather than interconnection drives us into defeat.

We need to be fact driven. We need to understand how fluid the ecosystems which we live in are. Look at the entire interconnected system before you make any decisions. Be inclusive, not exclusive.” – Cory Richards -
