A Place To Call Home? Not. It Was A Disheartening ..

It was a disheartening sight to see an adult green iguana living in this cage along a corridor of a Housing Development Board (HDB). From the size of the cage to the inappropriate flooring, one can only imagine how frustrating it is for a wild animal to be unable to act upon their natural instincts. The iguana has since been seized by the National Parks Board (NParks) and a warning letter was issued to the flat owner.
Wild animals, although often kept as exotic pets, are classified as undomesticated species over thousands of years, and their instincts are retained unless evolution takes place. One may find an easy way to use legislation and licensing to monitor, but how much resources should the government spend on these monitoring procedures when the heart of it lies in letting wild animals remain wild?
If you witness possession or sale of wildlife, please call our 24-hour wildlife crime and rescue hotline at 97837782, or email photos to acrescrime@gmail.com. If we are unable to arrive immediately due to crime or rescue operations, please call the enforcement authorities NParks.
