Excess Funds To Be Channeled To Petfood Donation To Selected Shelters

(1)  We have been helping rescuers and feeders for ten years now, so many of the colonies have actually stabilised.  This will happen with feeders who practise CNRM which is caring, neutering, returning to colony and managing the colony.  The neutered animals will guard the territory and new animals will rarely come in anymore.  We wrote to many of the former applicants and they all said the same – no new animals to neuter.  This is indeed great news for us. It proves that CNRM is effective in controlling the street animal population.

(2) We discovered that some applicants did not continue caring for the animals. When we asked for the photos of previous animals, they were not able to give any.  Some said they did not know what had happened to the animals. This suggests that they probably did not continue caring for the animals after neutering and the animals were probably just released to fend for themselves. Our committee felt that this is not proper use of supporters’ donations.  So, now, we ask for photos of the previous animals and if the applicant cannot provide, we will not be able to help him/her anymore.  We totally understand that some animals will pass away (that is a natural process) or some may even run away, but if the applicant can give us a proper account of all the animals, we accept that.

(3) There were also some applicants (the “agents”) who took advantage of our goodwill and devised scams to claim for other people’s animals. Those who were found to be dishonest were banned from receiving our aid. This is why we have tightened our policies now, to ensure that only true CNRM-ers are entitled to our aid. CNRM-colonies will stabilise after a few years (or sooner, depending on the size) and once that is achieved, applicants would not need to tap into our funds anymore.

Since there has been a drop in neutering claims, we have decided that all excess funds will be used for petfood donations to selected shelters. For now, we have these three shelters who have graciously welcomed our assistance:
