Another research team represented by Universiti Malaysia Terengganu (UMT), Terengganu Forestry Department and WWF-Malaysia surveyed plants in the forest around Lata Kekabu, the upper catchment of Setiu Wetlands on Day 1 of the SWSES 2020.

The survey aims to develop a plant inventory checklist including of rare, threatened and endangered species. An interesting preliminary observation in this upland forest is the unexpected presence of several plant species typically found in the coastal forest.

Findings such as this can guide in determining the suitable management recommendations for this unique forest area.
