ACRES UPDATE: THE FIGHT AGAINST THE VIRUS, WHILE FIGHTING FOR THE VOICELESS

Our heartfelt thanks to many individuals who have sent messages of support, the donors and also individuals who call our hotline from concern for a wild animal in distress – this is what keeps us going!

ACRES’s wildlife rescue services is listed as essential services and we will continue to be there for Singapore’s wildlife in distress (please refer to our recent post on Covid-19 wildlife rescue advisory). While some of our advocacy team will be telecommuting, we have shuffled manpower to carry out urgent wildlife rescues and provide optimal care for over 160 wild animals housed at our rescue centre. We have also added measures to ensure that it will be a small traceable team of staff and volunteers who will be carrying out all this work.

It is not going to be easy, but we will put all our efforts in together to do this for the animals – safely. We take our inspiration from all the others who are toiling in the frontline for everyone’s good!

Just in March 2020, our rescue team handled 1,350 calls for wildlife in distress, averaging a whopping 43 cases a day. We desperately need funds, as all our educational tours and programmes have been cancelled and our fundraising gala has been postponed to July with much hopes.

We humbly request you to continue supporting the cause of animal protection in Singapore! Please donate at give.asia/ACRESGala2020 or by other methods listed here: https://acres.org.sg/donate-now/

During this difficult time, we will continue to bring you happy animal stories, so look out for our work updates on social media (Instagram: @eyesofacres Youtube: ACRESSg)!

Let us all stay safe and fight this together!
