I spotted this Asian Glossy Starling at my neighbourhood park while walking one evening. The plumage of adult birds is black with a glossy shade of dark green visible on closer inspection and the right lighting conditions. Sometimes their feathers can also look deep purple or blue.
.
They have blood-red eyes. The juveniles are a duller shade of black/brown/grey with streaked underparts! They are commonly found in our backyard, so go out and observe quietly. Sometimes they form huge roosting colonies and make interesting formations at dusk before roosting. They feed on fruits and insects, being important seed dispersers.

Location: Public park in Taman Jaya
