An amendment to give the CDC 3Million to streamline their dog importation program cleared the House Rules Committee last night! Thank you to everyone who made this happen. This is a huge bi-partisan victory! 🥳 But it’s still not over. While the proposal was cleared, the next step is to provide an en-bloc package which needs to be approved by Congress.
We still need your voice. Call your House Representative and ask them to support amendment. Please call now!
Here’s what you need to do:
☎️Call ✴️202-224-3121✴️ and ask to speak to your House Representative today. (If you do not know their name, please provide the operator with your zip code.)
📣Message: “As my House Representative, I am asking you to please support the recently proposed amendment no.39 to H.R 4502.
The amendment will provide the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) with 3 million dollars in funding to help streamline their canine inspection process – one that will protect domestic dog populations while continuing to support the vital dog rescue work carried out overseas and not put service dogs and pets of Americans living abroad in jeopardy.”
The Congress Summer Recess begins on August 5th, and it’s crucial we get the support of as many representatives as possible before then. So, please call now‼️
The bipartisan amendment proposed by Congress members led by Reps. Kathleen Rice, D-N.Y., Brian Fitzpatrick, R-Pa., and Kurt Schrader, D-Oregon is a crucial step forward in hopes that dogs from around the world can still find forever homes in the USA.
