Let's Keep Plastics Out Of Our Rivers

According to new environmental research, our very own Klang river is listed as among the world’s high emitters of plastics into the ocean. It holds the tie of being the second highest riverine emitter with India’s Uthas river and the Philippines’ Tullahan river. ๐Ÿ˜”

The lackadaisical attitude we have towards our rivers and treating them as dumping grounds, are among the reasons that Malaysia ranks fourth in contributing the biggest share of global plastic waste emitted to the ocean. This is not something we should be proud of. ๐Ÿ˜ถ

In conjunction with World Rivers Day, letโ€™s start with not throwing our plastic trash into rivers. ๐Ÿ’ช More importantly, we should also reduce our single-use plastic usage and separate and recycle our plastic waste. Let’s clean up our act and change how we treat our rivers.
