Nature And The Orang Asli Community Share An Insep..

Nature and the Orang Asli community share an inseparable bond. They are keepers of nature, and in return, nature provides them with enough for their needs, their source of food, medicine and livelihood. 🌳

Highly reliant on natural resources, the Orang Asli are involved in diversified economic activities to generate income. Many of them live along the rivers and lakes, therefore fish is their main source of food and protein. 🐟 Rivers also serve as a channel of transportation for them to be able to access the nearest villages and towns for additional provisions, health care and other services.

Rivers, lakes, medicinal herbs and plants, and other natural resources are important to the Orang Asli. Degradation of natural and forest resources due to logging, poaching, and encroachment pose serious threats to the ecosystem and their way of life. If rivers are allowed to remain pristine, the forests will thrive and so will the Orang Asli, the guardians of the forest. 😄
