From A Victim Of Cruelty To A Dog Who Is Much Love..

From a victim of cruelty to a dog who is much loved, meet the California girl who is now living her #furrytailending in the USA.

Do you remember Luckynine who came to Soi Dog Foundation, back in 2019? Despite the name, her past was anything but lucky. She was just trying to survive on the streets of Phuket, when one day, she was viciously attacked. Luckynine was hit very hard in the eye, hard enough to cause considerable damage. This friendly girl didn’t know what she did to deserve this but ran into the path of a kind lady who noticed she’d been cruelly abused, and brought her to Soi Dog.

Luckynine almost lost her eye. Fortunately, following several surgeries and procedures, her eye was saved thanks to the support of people like you and she’s here to tell her tale.

Luckynine was chosen by our amazing partner rescue, The Barking Lot, in San Diego and travelled across the world to start her new life in September 2020. She was adopted shortly, by her forever family.

Luckynine now called Sunny and her mom shared us this pawesome pupdate:

“My husband and I adopted Sunny around October 2020. As first-time dog owners, we wanted an easygoing dog that would be a great companion to us and the Barking Lot recommended Sunny and I’d have to say, she was a perfect match. Sunny is a very sweet and loving dog. She likes to sleep on our big ottoman chair in the living room, run and dig holes in the backyard, play with her stuffed toys, and solve her Kong toys for treats. Her favourite game in the backyard is “chase me”. Whenever my husband and I would join her outside in the backyard, she would go in her play stance and run in circles around us. Sunny also loves people and gets excited whenever we visit our family and they would spoil her with treats whenever we visit.

We’re currently working with Sunny to get her more comfortable with other dogs. She gets nervous sometimes when she sees them during her walks but has improved over the past months after working with a dog trainer. She learned some neat tricks and has made two doggy friends – Kona and Bella. We love Sunny so much and look forward to the many more years we will have with her.”

There are many more dogs like Luckynine living at our shelter who were once victims of cruelty and had never experienced the love of a family. Some have been waiting for that chance for many years. You can meet them all here: https://www.soidog.org/adopt-a-dog

Note: Unfortunately, due to the current ban imposed by the CDC on importing dogs from Thailand, we are unable to adopt our rescues dogs to the USA. However, if you are in Canada, UK, Europe or in Thailand, please don’t hesitate to get in touch and find out more about adopting from Soi Dog Foundation.
