The National Inter-Varsity Mock Trial Competition ..

The National Inter-Varsity Mock Trial Competition on the theme of sustainable development and sustainable infrastructure Grand Final was successfully held at Ahmad Ibrahim Kulliyah Of Law, IIUM on 26 March 2022. Finalists were from Taylor’s University (Taylors) Vs. Multimedia University (MMU), arguing a civil case on road construction involving hill cutting and landslide incident. The grand final was adjudicated by The Right Honourable Tan Sri Datuk Seri Panglima David Wong, coming all the way from Sabah, and Y.A. Dato’ Arief Emran bin Tun Arifin (Judicial Commissioner of the High Court of Kuala Lumpur). The judging was headed by Mr Yusfarizal bin Yussoff (Managing Partner of Yuzfarizal, Aziz & Zaid) from the bar.

The Champion of this final round was Taylor’s University. The Best Counsel was won by team members from Multimedia University, and the Best Witness and Best Instructing Solicitor was won by the team members from Taylor’s University.

The Closing Ceremony was attended by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Zulkifli Hasan (Deputy Rector of Student Development and Community Engagement, IIUM), Datuk Brenndon Keith Soh (Board of Trustee, WWF-Malaysia), Mrs. Sophia Lim (CEO of WWF-Malaysia), Mr. Roger Chin (President of Sabah Law Society) and the panel of case scenario scriptwriters.
