A Long Time Ago In A Shelter Far, Far Away. Today ..

A long time ago in a shelter far, far away…

Today is Star Wars Day, and we can think of no better time to share an update on soi dog BB-Eight!

BB-Eight was named after a Star Wars droid. But unlike the BB-8 of movie fame, this sweet, petite girl is very capable of feeling, and she felt a whole lot of pain before her rescue in 2019.

BB-Eight arrived with a deep wound that ran right around her neck, likely from a rope or chain tied too tight for too long. With time and care, the wound gradually healed, and she transformed from sad and subdued to quite the little diva!

After nine months at the shelter, BB-Eight took her sassy self over to Vancouver, Canada, to join a family, and a beautiful #furrytailending began. Here’s what they have to say about her:

“BB has done extremely well settling in since she first came in 2020. She was pretty shut down at first since it was probably a big shock for her and she needed time to adjust in her new home. But after a lot of patience, waiting, and daily routines, she started trusting me and then the rest of my family more and more.

BB has pretty much completely opened up now and is super comfortable with us. Some fun facts about BB are the following:

She loves food more than anything, including me!

She loves learning and doing tricks because it’s fun and she gets treats.

She loves playing tug-of-war with stuffed animal toys.

She has a rule where we can never just walk down a road and then turn back to walk back up the same road. We must always cross the street or do long U-turn to return.

If she wants something, she will do her weird alien sounds (something like “woah”, “awh”, “mrrgh”, etc.) or she will stare at you with a deadpan look until you do the thing she wants.

She is super picky on which dogs she wants to play with. If she doesn’t find one she likes at the dog park, she would just follow me around. But if she does find a dog she likes who likes her back, she goes all out wrestling with them!”
