Indigenous And Coastal Communities In Sabahs Tun M.. 16th Aug 2020, by WWF Malaysia
Indigenous and coastal communities in Sabah’s Tun Mustapha Park rely on the ocean to provide for them, both as a source of food and livelihoods. A Strong Bond With The Forest Is An Inseparable Pa.. 15th Aug 2020, by WWF Malaysia
A strong bond with the forest is an inseparable part of life for the Orang Asli community in Belum-Temengor. The forest is their home; a resource centre for food, medicine and their means to generate income, and a place where their socio-cultural values are deeply entrenched. Traditional food preparation methods using bamboo or smoking over a fire are still widely used to cook edible plants, fish, or wild animals for the family, be it at home, on a trip to the forest or for special celebrations....

In The Past Four Decades, 60 Of Elephant Habitat I.. 14th Aug 2020, by WWF Malaysia
In the past four decades, 60% of elephant habitat in Sabah, Malaysia has been lost to large-scale plantation development resulting from insufficient land-use planning. Because of this, most elephants in this region are now often found within these plantations or moving through them to reach adjacent forest reserves, leading to human-wildlife conflict. WWF collaborates with plantation owners, government, and other stakeholders to create wildlife corridors, reconnecting patches of forest that have...

The Melanau Traditional Food Pipus Is Best Consume.. 14th Aug 2020, by WWF Malaysia
The Melanau traditional food pipus is best consumed with hot rice or sagu, a perfect combo for your tea or coffee. Akin to otak-otak from Peninsular Malaysia, the differences between the two are in the preparation and ingredients. The fillings of pipus comprise prawn, squid and fish such as ikan parang (Chirocentrus dorab) and ikan bulu or locally known as ikan gonjeng.
.
The ingredients are diced, mixed with spices, and wrapped in nipah leaves, certainly very environmentally friendly! This is a...
