The Harmony Fund international animal rescue charity is working with an extraordinary rescuer in Serbia where wolves are regularly hunted. Often the surviving pups are stolen by hunters and raised in small cages until they are full size and then they are released to be hunted by the same men who killed their mothers. We had to respond to an emergency in Greece tonight. Lily, the volunteer who pays the rent on Sanja Dimitrijevic's small cat sanctuary each month, was robbed as she went to visit her father in the hospital. Volunteer rescuer Tracie Mitchum has just retrieved this dog from inside a dumpster at the YMCA in Summerville, South Carolina. Yes, a dumpster. Let's hope the dog fell in there while searching for food, because the thought of someone deliberately putting him in the dumpster is too hard to stomach.

This sweet mother dog and her pups are living in Croatia. The mother is so good with her little ones, taking time to make sure each is safe and nursing enough. The mother was taken in by a very kind woman who knew that the dog had been beaten and lost several teeth.
