Wetlands are our life support systems. They provide us with water, food & the best natural protection from extreme floods and storms. They also help us to mitigate and adapt to climate change.
And they are home to around 40% of the world’s species.
Over the last 20 years, WWF has helped to protect 377 wetlands across 52 countries under The Ramsar Convention on Wetlands - amounting to 110 million hectares. That’s an area roughly twice the size of Spain.

Sspca Is Hosting Its Annual Christmas Charity Baza..

SSPCA is hosting its annual Christmas Charity Bazaar this November 25th.
It will be held at the main hall of the Christian Ecumenical Worship Centre (CEWC), Jalan Stampin from 10am to 2pm.
The bazaar will feature a fun-filled day of stalls selling food, drinks, books, etc as well as games, children activities and music!

Our co-founder Dr. Chen Pelf Nyok will be speaking at the "Wildlife Conservation" forum, organised in conjunction with the 11th Kuala Lumpur Eco Film Festival (KLEFF).
The forum will be held tomorrow, Wednesday, 24th October, in 2 sessions. The morning session consists of seven carefully curated wildlife conservationists who will be sharing their personal stories, and the second session is focussed on the international wildlife trade.

An Update On The Two Rescued Puppies

The two puppies from yesterday’s rescue are doing well. According to Mun Mun, they are eating and drinking well. Just a bit timid. That is, of course, to be expected, since they are, after all, feral puppies.

I also learnt a lot from Mun Mun and the rescue experience yesterday. There is a big difference between the rescue of feral animals and abandoned (former) pets.

Vincent has been eating Cindy’s canned food and homecooked food, mostly. I try to sneak in some raw food (Cubgrub) every now and then, but he would only eat a little bit. He doesn’t seem to like raw anymore.

Dogs are trainable, but have you ever wondered how dogs learn? Dogs learn in two ways: by association (emotional response) and by consequence (doing things).
Associative learning is to relate an item to something good, such as the sight of a ball meaning a fun game of fetch. This works in a negative way too, such as prolonged hitting of the dog with rolled-up newspaper or stick-like items which might correlate with fear.
