Protecting One Of Nature’s Drabbest Masterpieces F.. 23rd May 2019, by WWF Malaysia
"We need more researchers to study painted terrapins, because they might be ‘no oil paintings’ but they are priceless parts of the natural world and yet we know so little about them. We also need more funds to hire and train more people from the local communities to help conserve them, to establish a better hatchery, and to buy more field equipment such as microchips, scanners and satellite trackers."

Sometime August Last Year, Chawirat Caught This To.. 23rd May 2019, by TNRM Malaysia
Sometime August last year, Chawirat caught this Tom cat and contacted us for help to neuter him. She determined to find him a home after neutering. So we fostered him after the castration. There were two potential adopters. Few days later, one night around 3 am, he collapsed. We quickly sent him to Gasing vet. X-ray showed that he had lung infection and one of his lungs collapsed. His chances were slim but he recovered. The potential adopters disappeared after hearing of his condition. Chawirat ...

Indy’s Fine (7 Days After The Extraction) 23rd May 2019, by AnimalCare
I took Indy along for a check-up today, with Zurik.
Last night Indy started eating quite a lot of canned food, which was all good, but this morning, he jumped up onto the ledge (Cleo’s observation ledge where she does all her battles with intruders) and refused to come down for breakfast.
He was up there for almost an hour. Even spraying him with the water spray did not manage to get him down. So, he skipped breakfast entirely.
I was concerned about this and I also wanted his eye ulcer to ...

Zurik’s Check-Up: Too Little Fluids!! 23rd May 2019, by AnimalCare
Today was Zurik’s check-up at the vet’s. This is after 19 days from the last pleural effusion aspiration (drawing out of fluids from right lung cavity).
My heart was beating so fast when he was being checked with ultrasound. I tried to look out of the “black spots” indicative of spots with fluids. Even my untrained eye could see there were only relatively small black spots on the screen. Yay!! Small spots on the right lung cavity and NONE on the left!
So yes, ...

This Mother Dog And Her Pup Were Living In A Const.. 23rd May 2019, by TNRM Malaysia
This mother dog and her pup were living in a construction site in Cyberjaya. We provided food so the guards there could feed them. More than two weeks ago, the management of the completed condominium project wanted the dogs gone so they called the local council MPS ( Sepang ) to come and catch them. One of the guards called our member only after the dogs were sent to pound. We quickly went to the pound and bailed them out and sent them to our panel clinic for quarantine. Unfortunately the mothe...

These 4 Female Dogs Are Among About 20 Dogs Fed By.. 23rd May 2019, by TNRM Malaysia
These 4 female dogs are among about 20 dogs fed by an uncle ( in yellow T-shirt ) at Selayang Utama. They were sent for neutering on last Monday and uncle would help to do post op after their surgery. Unfortunately on Tuesday, some local council officers came and told uncle there has been a complaint about the dogs and they will come and catch them soon if nothing is done. We had no choice but to board these 4 in the clinic for post op. Most of the dogs are friendly. We are appealing if anyone ...

Malaysia To Send Plastic Waste Back To Where It Ca.. 23rd May 2019, by Roots & Shoots Malaysia
“Developed countries must be responsible in what they send out,” said Yeo Bee Yin, Malaysia’s minister of energy, technology, science, climate change and environment.

After 18 Years, German Expat Still Shocked By Anim.. 23rd May 2019, by SPCA Sarawak
MIRI: A German expatriate in Miri and his family are calling for tougher enforcement against animal cruelty in Sarawak.
Gunter Liebertz, who made Miri his home 18 years ago, said it was still a shock for him every time he saw animals such as dogs and cats being so badly treated by some, including at pet shops selling these animals.
He appealed to the state government to take steps to curb such cruelty by enforcing tougher laws against animal-abuse culprits.
"It was a shock for me when I fi...
