Pangolin Awareness
15th Feb 2019, by WWF Malaysia

Time is running out for pangolins. This spiny anteater is under threat from poaching, despite a total international trade ban. Last weekend, Sabah police seized a record 30 tonnes of pangolin and pangolin products worth RM8.16 million from a processing facility. It’s estimated that more than a million pangolins have been killed for their scales and meat in the last decade. Populations of Asian pangolins have declined by 80% in the last decade, and traffickers are increasingly turning to A...

Many people often ask us on the adoption process. When we start to ask these questions, the prospect adopt finds it difficult to answer. We are not trying to make your life difficult, but merely to understand your capabilities on taking care of animal. To us, it is akin to take in a new 'family member', 'not employing a security guard'. Having a pet, it’s a huge time commitment of 10 to 15 years, money, family members and many factors come into play. Ask yourself, “Am I ready to adopt a pe...

More from Sylwia on our cats awaiting adoption: Fabby & Inky are sweet kittens which will give you all the joy of teaching them some rules and showing how wonderful the world can be. They are a bit shy, but friendly, still focused on bring carefree and discovering the surroundings, having fun and playing. Inky is more funny - jumps and runs while playing, cheerful chasing its own tail :-) Fabby is shyer and calm, needs more attention, but still takes a part in Inky's crazy playings

Who’s heard of this cute creature before? This anteater-like animal is a pangolin. They’re the world’s only truly scaly mammal. But pangolins are also the most heavily trafficked wild mammal in the world, despite the fact that most people have never heard of them. All eight species of pangolin are protected under national and international laws. https://www.traffic.org/what-we-do/species/ pangolins/ #ProtectPangolins #WorldPangolinDay #Pangolins #StopPoaching #SavePangolins
