It is #WorldWildlifeDay tomorrow, celebrating "Life below water: For people and planet". A healthy ocean matters for our survival yet as much as 40% of the ocean is now heavily affected by overexploitation of marine species. Many people may already be aware of shark’s fin consumption, but more can be done for other animals of the ocean. Our litter affects marine life terribly, like this dolphin in #Singapore who was caught in fish netting that weighed 10 kilograms. As we raise awareness on t...

Endangered Animals Sing “I Dreamed A Dream”
2nd Mar 2019, by AnimalCare

This is a very powerful message to the world but it contains very disturbing and heart-breaking (animated) graphics. To the weak-hearted, please do not watch. To those who want to be reminded that animal lovers are a minority who must speak up and act to stop beastly humans from their brutal and selfish slaughter of innocent animals, you might want to share it:   https://mymodernmet.com/dream-zombie- studio/?fbclid=IwAR2ExObcWIMOg1IFxqdApgtHvEA554Z1q tfA6cvKJZOSLk0uyRsSblFDYBQ

Her name is SweetieGirl. She’s only a few weeks old and was found all alone, with no mother in sight. She is completely blind. Will you please donate now at https://bit.ly/SweetieGirl so that more vulnerable pups like her can get the help they need? Our vets say SweetieGirl has most likely been blind since birth. Other than this, and the fact that she was infested with ticks when found, she is relatively healthy. But we will never know what happened to her or how she ended up all alone, witho...

Vincent At The Clinic
1st Mar 2019, by AnimalCare

I reached the clinic before 5pm and brought home-steamed chicken with chicken soup, for Vincent. Vincent was sleeping when I arrived. It is good that he can sleep and rest. I spoke with the vet and Vincent had already been fed twice through the nasal tube. No vomiting so far. The vet will increase the amount of food gradually. Well, it is good that at least there is food in the stomach now. Otherwise, the stomach acid will produce more gastric problems. And more discomfort. I decided to wait un...

Many of you will remember little Ababa. Found alone, abandoned, frightened and sick. No one was sure he was going to make it, but despite all odds he survived and found a wonderful home. This sweet boy is living the extravagant life in Bangkok that he deserves. Each day that his family comes home he greets them with a full body wiggle. He can’t contain his excitement! The idea of Ababa continuing to suffer on the streets, never knowing a kind word or loving touch is simply unbearable. We are...

Vincent Has A Nasal Tube
1st Mar 2019, by AnimalCare

Vincent’s condition deteriorated from yesterday. I managed to force-feed him 4 times, but as the day wore on, he looked more miserable. When he first returned from the clinic, after the IV-drip, he was active, happy, alert and very interested in food. But yesterday, he took a downward turn. This morning, he rejected the food I tried to force-feed. I finally managed to syringe-feed two tubes of Ciao liquid treats, which I pumped as far as in possible into his throat using a syringe. I did m...

“What I Eat” (by Carl Safina)
1st Mar 2019, by AnimalCare

Here is a whole different perspective to eating compassionately: http://carlsafina.org/2016/0 4/07/what-i-eat/ Some quotes: In nature, if a predator kills an animal for food, that prey animal got to be who it was supposed to be until the moment it was caught. More thoughts: If I catch a fish, the ...

Dreams Do Come True. Last Christmas, We Reached Ou..
1st Mar 2019, by SPCA Singapore

DREAMS DO COME TRUE Last Christmas, we reached out to our supporters to fundraise for our Christmas Wishlist 2018. We are pleased to announce that it was a huge success! One of the items we were most excited to purchase was a portable cat enclosure for our cats to play in. The cats in our shelter spend most of the day in a cage, and it is vital for their well-being to be let out to exercise. With the funds raised, we were able to purchase two of these enclosures where our cats can take turns...

Scientists have identified more than 200,000 species in the oceans, but this is likely to be a small fraction of what’s out there. There may well be millions of marine species. From tiny plankton to the enormous blue whale, our oceans support an incredible variety of wildlife. Please support our marine conservation efforts.
