Meet the Survivors: Boonrod 💪

Boonrod means “survivor” in Thai, and when you hear his story, you’ll understand how he earnt his name.

Boonrod was found cowering in a cage in the corner of a dog slaughterhouse in 2014. His legs were bound together, and he was mere minutes away from being slaughtered.

Acting on a tip-off, Thai police and Soi Dog undercover investigators raided the premises just in time, arresting the butcher and freeing Boonrod from an unthinkable fate.

We can only imagine the fear Boonrod experienced in the slaughterhouse and the horrors he witnessed there. It took him time to overcome his ordeal but, once he did, he found a wonderful home with Paola and her fellow rescue dogs in Verona, Italy. An established author, Paola has written and published Boonrod’s story for the world to read.

Boonrod is only here to tell his story thanks to you. Your donations made raids and rescues like his possible, and your petition signatures helped pass Thailand’s first ever animal welfare law, under which dog and cat meat traders and butchers were held accountable.

What was achieved in Thailand can and will be achieved elsewhere in Asia. Click here to learn more about how we are tackling the trade head on and hands on across the region: https://links.soidog.org/boonrod-the-survivor
