Happy Global Tiger Day Today We Would Like To Cele..

Happy Global Tiger Day! Today we would like to celebrate a young tiger conservation champion.

It was a long-awaited moment for Sasha Alyssa Philip, a Malaysian student of the British International School of Kuala Lumpur, when WWF-Malaysia presented her with the Dr Rimington Children’s Award 2021 from Tigers Alive Initiative recently. Due to Covid-19 restrictions last year, the presentation was put on hold.

The Dr. Rimington Award is an international award presented to an individual who has made a highly commendable contribution to the conservation of wild tigers. Sasha had initiated a student-led campaign in 2021 and raised RM43,500 for WWF-Malaysia, the Malaysian Conservation Alliance for Tigers (MYCAT) and the Department of Wildlife and National Parks (PERHILITAN) towards saving the critically endangered Malayan tiger.

“We nominated Sasha for her grit, determination and tireless efforts in rallying support to save the Malayan tiger, and we are so happy that she won,” said Christopher Wong, Tiger Lead for WWF-Malaysia’s Tiger Conservation Programme.

Sasha’s parents and younger brother Zac were at the cosy award ceremony to witness her proud moment. Congratulations Sasha!
