This Is The Story Of Two Best Friends, Beluga And ..

This is the story of two best friends, Beluga and Caviar, who were rescued in Thailand and reunited in Canada!🇨🇦

It all started back in 2020 when Soi Dog board member and long-term volunteer Lillian found a skinny Beluga and Caviar scavenging for food in the jungle. She brought them to the Soi Dog shelter for medical care and, once they’d recovered, was kind enough to foster them while they waited to find their forever homes.

Fortunately, Beluga didn’t have to wait long. He was chosen by our amazing partner rescue Furever Furbaby Rescue in Ontario, Canada, and was soon adopted from there. Caviar needed a little extra care, but a year later she was ready for adoption and was chosen by the same rescue. After she arrived, the pair were reunited and have been inseparable ever since.

Beluga (now named Riley) and Caviar (now named Kavi) sent us the following update in their own words:

“Dear wonderful people,

This is Riley, and I’m writing this letter with my forever friend Kavi sitting next to me, making sure my punctuation is correct.😂

We are living under the same roof. Thanks to Lillian, the Furever Furbaby Rescue team, and Soi Dog supporters for making this happen. We are forever grateful.❤

Life is awesome in our forever home with our mom and dad. They shower us with hugs and kisses every day. They constantly tell us how lucky they are to have us in their life and we think we won the lottery.

I love the outdoors, going for walks every day (rain or shine), sitting on the deck soaking up the sun, going to camp, and enjoying nature. Now this is where Kavi and I differ….opposites attract, right? Kavi loves her walks but she could be somewhat of a princess when it’s raining. She will look outside and if it’s wet, she hightails it back to the couch. As for soaking up sunshine on the deck, she prefers to do this inside the house. As far as camp goes, she prefers city life but she is slowly coming around. We both love car rides. Mom and dad say we are angels in the car. When we go for long rides, we stop along the way to stretch our legs.

We are also great watch dogs. Sometimes we hear strange voices in the house and feel compelled to let the neighborhood know by being very vocal. Mom tells us every time that it’s just the answering machine and that everything is ok. We are captured on video for all to listen to. Our neighbors think we are “special”. I’m so grateful to be reunited with Kavi after almost a year of separation. We have a wonderful life and couldn’t ask for better. I’m living the life of Riley with Kavi by my side.

Love from Riley and Kavi.”
