Zeus Communications was inspired by my dog, Zeus. He was rescued as a 3 month old puppy, running along a highway. I pulled over, cornered him and managed to put him in my car and take him home. That was almost 10 years ago but the image stays fresh in my mind.

I had 10 wonderful years with Zeus till he passed away from kidney failure on 7 April 2010. Zeus spent many years volunteering and "working" with me in animal welfare. He was one of my partners in fund raising events and school talks. Please click on this link to read how Zeus helped educate and promote animal welfare during his life's journey. http://noahsarkcares.blogspot.com/2010/03/editor-in-chief-makes-room-for-younger.html

During the last two weeks of his life, Zeus taught me more than anyone ever had. He had gone on for nine days without food and he could not keep his food or medicine down. Everything that was force-fed into him, came out. He lost weight towards the last two weeks of his life, but despite not eating for that long, he was still alert and relatively strong. He could still walk and was not in discomfort.

Zeus did not like spending his nights at the Vet, so each morning I dropped him off at the clinic on the way to work and I would rush to the clinic after work to take him home to be with his family. He needed to spend the day at the Vet while I was at work because he had to be on the drip, and also for someone to monitor him, in case his condition suddenly took a turn for the worse. Despite being without food for so many days, Zeus was still able to walk out of the clinic and to my car, although towards the last few days, he needed to be lifted up into the car.

Many times I spoke to him and told him that he could go if he was ready, but somehow, I knew he had more to teach me. In those last two weeks, Zeus taught me the meaning of true friendship, loyalty, strength and courage. Finally on his last night at home with the rest of his family, Zeus started gasping for air and had obvious breathing difficulties. I knew the time had come for us to part and a vet was called to my home. I have had many dogs all my life and I have lost at least 30 dogs over the years, but no dog had made me cry as much as Zeus had, and no dog had taught me as much as he did. He was indeed a very special and intelligent dog. He had a purpose for his life's journey and he taught me well.

Zeus wanted me to continue with my work in animal welfare, to go on helping dogs the way I have for the past twenty years. He knew I had a special gift for working with animals, communicating with them and healing them; and he wanted me never to stop what I do. Thus, Zeus Communications was formed. I will continue with my passion for working with and helping animals, with the same commitment and dedication I have had.

It was an honour for Zeus to choose me as his owner ten years ago and I will be forever grateful to him for the teachings and the memories he has given me. In life and in death, he was truly, a man's best friend.

Thank you Zeus.
Lynda
